Synod Dialogue on Core Issues Result in Essential Goals
Through a process of dialogue, the SYNOD delegates created ideas and suggestions resulting in Essential Goals to serve as a guide for the Board of Elders Canadian District for the next four years. The top three Essential Goals for each core area are presented below.
Congregational Growth:
- Facilitate and encourage leadership and outreach training on a congregational level
- Improve Communication
- Encourage regional events to expand opportunities o invite people to relationships with the church
Moravian Identity:
Van Es Programming:
- Conduct a feasibility study to determine the viability of VECCC as a year round retreat centre
- Place focus on creating and enhancing innovative programs for all of God’s people within and beyond our district and denomination
- Review, update, and distribute the existing VECCC Long Range Plan to address the core areas of People, Programs, and Facilities
Pastor Recruitment:
- Form a task force to develop an accredited distance learning program with Moravian Theological Seminary as an alternative for the one-year residency requirement
- Improve communication to church boards and educate congregations about the call process
- Speed up the call process and allow pastors to announce they are open for call
District Programming:
- Develop a structure of communicating district programs
- Create a full-time paid District Camp and Young Adult Program Facilitator position
- Develop and implement a district program needs assessment
